Effort Reporting

Effort Reporting is our means of providing assurance to sponsors that:

  1. Salaries charged to sponsored projects are reasonable in relation to the work performed.
  2. Faculty and staff have met their commitments to sponsored projects.

Success in the effort realm depends on careful attention to important issues throughout the sponsored projects lifecycle.

ECRT (Effort Certification and Reporting Technology)
Web-Based Online Training

www.citiprogram.org — "The Basics of Effort Reporting" is an online training course for faculty, academic staff, and PIs with effort on sponsored projects.

  • The course is in the CITI system, a service that offers compliance and ethics education to research institutions. Register as requested and select University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee from the dropdown menu.
  • You can stop at any time and then resume where you left off.
  • Each certifier must complete the training within 90 days of the first date on which a statement is available for certifying in ECRT. For all current certifiers, training must be completed by January 30, 2008.

We strongly recommend completing the training before certifying with the new ECRT system.
