American Recovery and Reinvestment Act
Information from UW System
Federal/Agency
- Stimulus funding RFP with guidelines must have gone through OMB and be published by May 1st.
- There are funds for Pell Grants, Hope Credits and Work Study.
NSF and NIH (for details of NIH funding, see appendix I) are likely to fund [funds must be encumbered (and preferably spent) by September 2010] by a mix of the following:
- Funding proposals on the cusp for funding (highly ranked but not funded) and/or in a backlog.
- Supplements to existing grants/contracts.
- New proposals.
- $300M for the NCRR shared instrumentation program.
- $1 billion through NCRR for renovation, repair, and new construction.
There is not a requirement of 2.5% funds going to small businesses as SRIB or STTR.
- There is not yet good information on how the US Department of Energy or Education will be funding.
- We are still awaiting publication of funding regulations for the $150 million provided to the EDA through the stimulus package. However, agency insiders believe these regulations will waive or reduce match requirements to 25 percent and will loosen definitional requirements. For more information about EDA funding in the stimulus package and useful tools, see www.nbia.org/works.
