RGI Fall 2007: May Update

We are improving the application packet for the third year of RGI based on feedback from the applicants, external reviewers, panel reviewers, and the RGI Team. The secure Web site is now in development and we hope to have a campus launch on July 16, 2007.

Two Major Changes for Fall 2007:

1. All of the relevant application material will be entered directly into the secure Web site by the PI (login UWM User ID and password). The information includes: PI and Co-PI data, abstract, biographical data, suggested external reviewers, keywords, deliverables and milestones, return on investment, budget justification, and space needs. Applicants are highly encouraged to submit names of outstanding reviewers who are recognized nationally in the field of the proposal and with whom there is no known conflict of interest. Applicants will upload into the secure Web site a copy of the project narrative as a single PDF file and a copy of the budget spreadsheet as an Excel file. The Excel template can be downloaded from the RGI Web site.

   Once the PI is satisfied with the proposal, he or she will select the SUBMIT PROPOSAL button on the electronic application. The proposal will be checked electronically, and an e-mail to the PI will confirm completeness or request additional information.

2. Once the proposal is accepted as complete, an electronic routing and signature process will facilitate approvals between the applicant, his or her Department Chair/Director, and the Dean.

RGI Deadline

All proposals must be submitted by midnight on Monday, October 8, 2007. There will be NO hardcopy submission of the application or hardcopy of the signatures.

Since there are no major changes in the content of the application this year, we will retain last year's in the RGI Web site until the July release of the new secure Web site. We need to emphasize that this is only to give a preview of the new secure Web site and application. You CANNOT submit an application this year using last year's materials.

Last year's application materials will be replaced in mid July 2007 with the new secure Web site containing updated instructions and materials that will be needed to submit a proposal in Fall 2007.
