A postdoctoral research institute founded in 1968 to foster crossdisciplinary research in the humanities.
Great Lakes WATER Institute, UWS/UWM
The largest academic freshwater research facility on the Great Lakes, housing the following centers and research units:

- NIEHS Marine and Freshwater Biomedical Sciences Center
- Water Security, Center for
Surface Studies, Laboratory for
Interdisciplinary research on the structure and properties of solid surfaces and their interaction with atoms and molecules.
Urban Initiatives and Research, Center for
Provides research services and technical assistance to public and non-profit organizations to help them make informed policy choices.
