Graduate School Administrative & Financial Services

Formerly Human Resources & Budget

The Office of Administrative and Financial Services manages and administers all personnel activities and procedures related to classified, unclassified, and student staff employed in the Graduate School, in its organized research units, or on Graduate School funds.

AFS is also responsible for the development, planning and implementation of the annual and biennial budget, and the ongoing monitoring and oversight of expenditures for Graduate School 101, 107, 128, 133, 136, 144, 150, 181, and 403 funds. Additionally, the office provides liaison to other campus units, including the Department of Human Resources, the Equity/Diversity Services Office, the Labor Relations Office, Business and Financial Services, the Milwaukee Graduate Assistants Association, and any campus unit receiving fiscal support from the Graduate School.

AFS is responsible for extramural and intramural post-award administration, providing fiscal oversight of 133, 144, and 233 projects. Grant accountants monitor accounts, prepare and submit financial reports, and coordinate donor or sponsor-stipulated fiscal and management needs with the principal investigator(s) and their respective school or college.
